Mozilla Firefox 5 beta


The latest version of Firefox Beta has the following changes:
  • Added support for CSS animations
  • The Do-Not-Track header preference has been moved to increase discoverability
  • Improved canvas, JavaScript, memory, and networking performance
  • Improved standards support for HTML5, XHR, MathML, SMIL, and canvas
  • Improved spell checking for some locales
  • Improved desktop environment integration for Linux users
  • WebGL content can no longer load cross-domain textures
  • Background tabs have setTimeout and setInterval clamped to 1000ms to improve performance
  • The Firefox development channel switcher introduced in previous Firefox Beta updates has been removed


The all new Mozilla Firefox 5 beta has been launched recently for windows,mac,linux and android after the great success of Mozilla Firefox 4 which had almost 200 million downloads all over the world.


It has shifted to rapid release development cycle delivering an amazing new browser with new features,performance enhancement,security updates and a lot more.


The new version includes more than 1000 features with more modern web technology which makes it easier for web developers to build amazing Add-ons and applications.


In its android version it includes the 'Do not track privacy' feature making it the first browser to support it on multiple platforms. Mozilla created it to give users a good control over the way their browsing is tracked.You can easily pop out the websites you don't wish to be tracked.


It offers a complete control over the look and functionality of the browser and offering thousands of amazing Add-ons.For windows,mac or linux it supports CSS animation standard to enable developers in creating new web applications and stuffs.


You can download the latest version by clicking on 'check for update' link under the 'About Firefox' tab in your browser or you can download directly from here.For android users,users will get a notification to update to the latest version.


You can get the new and old Add-ons from the Add-on manger or by visiting the Add-on website.




There are a few issues too associated with the new browser that includes-


All system
-For some users,scrolling in the main Gmail window will be quite slower than usual.
-If you try to start Firefox using locked profile,it will crash.


Microsoft Windows
-Some users of Adobe reader X have experienced instability when viewing PDF documents which can be resolved by uninstalling it and again installing.


Mac OS X
-This version will not work on Macintosh hardware with power PC CPU's.


Linux and Unix
-The video control buttons might not work while viewing quick time video's with Libtotem.
-Users compiling from source might need a newer gcc and libstdc++ as the build requirements have changed.
